I loaded a 17 foot Old Town canoe on my Yakima rack - mounted to my camper shell - with the KeelOver system installed and drove 1980 miles from the San Diego area to the Salt Lake City area and back. The trip north had some strong winds, snow, hail and rain. I kept speeds at 70 on the freeway (limit is 80 in S. UT) and the boat did not move.

The return trip was the real test. Extremely strong winds, mostly 90 degrees to the boat, beat on it like a jackhammer. I don't have actual wind speeds but I'd put the gusts in the 40-50 MPH range. The Las Vegas area had damaging winds two weeks earlier ( 70 MPH, power lines down, etc ) so it howls through there. The high desert in CA was no better and we took a direct hit from a "dust devil" along with sustained high winds.

From Mona, UT to Victorville, CA - about 500 miles - the KeelOver took a beating. We stopped after 300 miles as the front "keepers" had moved out about an inch. Again in Victorville to make the same readjustment. I call that a successful trip. The mounting instructions clearly state to ensure the straps are installed to the INSIDE of the towers and this is why. I had 66" round bars so I had some slide room, but the straps kept the canoe in place due to their inside position.

These saddles provide an excellent means of transporting my Jackson Kilroy. I'm able to haul the Kilroy Keel up as the open cockpit design allows for a perfect fit inside the KeelOver saddles. Doing so allows me to keep my seat strapped in the boat, as well as rods stored in the rod storage units in the kayak - shortening my time from roof to water!

Excellent rack if your car has an existing pair of bars that run from side to side. I have a Toyota Highlander and found that, like a number of others who reviewed this product, I had to reverse the rack and put it on the INSIDE of the canoe facing out. Still, it holds like a rock and it's as stable as any canoe rack I've ever used! I love the rubber inside the pieces as it doesn't seem like it will leave any marks at all on my Highlander rack. Fantastic option and priced WAAAY better than the various other options I could find for my car.

This works well. It’s a little bulkier than previous ones I’ve have from Yakima but it works and I like how easy they are to put on and take off.

I have a solo canoe and it fits perfectly on my roof rack (2019 Subaru Outback).

Small, light, and easy to transport. Holds canoe snugly. Only thing is that there is no way to lock the canoe or the mount, so if you have to leave the vehicle unattended for a long tiem, I would recommend not leaving the canoe. Even the mounts might be attractive targets because they are easily removed without ahy tools

really solid platform for carrying canoe or hybrid kayak. I carry my Native Watercraft Ultimate FX12 on these and they provide a rock solid anchor point.

These are what I needed to fit the factory crossbars on my Toyota 4runner roof rack. The universal fit was big enough to fit around the crossbars to comfortably fit my mad river 16' canoe on top the roof rack. It also came with 4 straps to tie down which was an added bonus for me. I am very happy with this purchase and the Yakima customer service was excellent when helping me with this purchase. They are also very easy to take on and off and the straps are very easy to get a tight fit.

I have these mounted to my roof rack on a Suburban. Canoe sits nicely and the straps easily support the canoe with no movement.
